Palestinian Fund for Reconstruction and Development (PFRD) Multi Donor Trust Fund.
The PFRD’s objective is to strengthen sustainable recovery and reconstruction, economic recovery, and social resilience in West Bank and Gaza.
Streamlined Platform for Effective Coordination of Reconstruction Activities.
On the request of the Palestinian Authority (PA), the Bank has restructured the pre-existing Palestinian Umbrella for Resilience Support to the Economy (PURSE) Multi Donor Trust Fund, establishing the PFRD.
Like the PURSE, the PFRD will continue to provide a platform to harness the efforts of the PA, the World Bank and development partners, to address priority development needs of the Palestinian people at a strategic level.
The PFRD will serve as a key vehicle for reconstruction efforts in Gaza, serving both as a financial conduit for channeling scaled-up donor funds and as a platform for coordinating reconstruction activities effectively.
The PFRD Advisory Board will serve as a central strategic coordination body, bringing together key stakeholders involved in the Palestinian economic development and reform agenda, and specifically in Gaza’s recovery and reconstruction.
No operational activities or financial transfers to Gaza are foreseen at this stage. Re-engagement in Gaza would only occur if conditions allow and are subject to prior Board endorsement.
