As part of the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi), the Entrepreneurship Database project collects data on female entrepreneurial activity, from 2014 to 2020, focusing on the following three variables: business owners, business directors and sole proprietors.
* For China, only the data for Beijing and Shanghai were included.
Business Directors refer to the individuals who conduct the affairs of new limited liability companies registered in the calendar year.
The table shows the difference between the number of female and male directors of new limited liability companies per calendar year.

Sole Proprietors refer to the individuals that newly own and manage a business entity and who are indistinguishable from the business and are personally liable in the calendar year.
