Sofia, March 16, 2010 – A World Bank team of experts contributed to national discussion about pension reforms during a conference on “Ten Years of Pension Reform in Bulgaria: Achievements and Challenges”. The event was organized by leading think tanks Center for Economic Development and the Balkan Labor and Social Policy Institute. The conference was opened by the Minister of Labor Totyo Mladenov and the World Bank’s Resident Representative Florian Fichtl.
In partnership with Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, National Social Security Institute and civil society a team of World Bank experts shared an analysis about the challenges facing the Bulgarian pension system.
“As a knowledge partner the World Bank was honored to contribute to the national dialogue on pension system reforms. We stand ready also to continue supporting Bulgaria trough advice and funding as appropriate and as requested in order to help tackling the challenges raised by demographic trends and global crisis”, Florian Fichtl emphasized.
