Background
Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa and sixth most populous country in the world. Beyond its population, Nigeria is known for its innovation in a wide range of sectors across the continent and globally from business, to education, to entertainment and sports, and beyond. At the same time, recent economic, public health, political and security events have posed major challenges to the career and business trajectories of many Nigerians. There is also an ongoing large wave of emigration of Nigerians.
Study Goals
World Bank researchers, in partnership with Yucca Consulting, are conducting a study titled “Innovative Nigerians Survey” to learn about the business, career, and migration trajectories of innovative Nigerians, in light of the different changes in the country in recent years.
Sample
The sample for the study are Nigerians who demonstrated their innovative ideas by making it to the semi-finalist stage of a government business plan competition in 2011. The study will cover over 2000 Nigerians living within and outside the country. Since the study is interested in a wide variety of career trajectories, respondents do not need to currently be running a business.
Duration
The study will run from September 2023 to January 2024
Confidentiality
The results of this survey will be kept confidential and will be used for research purposes and to inform policy. No information will be presented from this research which could be used to identify any individual.
How to Participate
Yucca Consulting will contact individuals in the selected sample to schedule an appointment for the survey.
