Disability

The World Bank
Anchored in the need to increase the availability and quality of microdata on people with disabilities, LSMS is working on household survey guidelines for collecting individual-level data in this area. The Washington Group – Short Set (WG-SS) disability questionnaire module, which has been officially endorsed by the World Bank and several other international organizations to foster data disaggregation by disability status in an internationally comparable way, is the main reference for the LSMS guidelines. The team is also working on the development of a household survey questionnaire module on environmental disability, since questions about environmental barriers do not currently appear in the WG-SS questionnaire module. Future work in this area is expected to feature integrated survey geospatial data applications to better understand the interactions between the environment and people with disabilities.
