Armenia started improving accessibility to markets and social services through the rehabilitation of the rural road network 10 years ago. Over 900km of community roads have been newly built or rehabilitated during this time. Often called “lifeline roads” by the villagers, they are now providing 19% more people with safer and quicker access, as well as connectivity.
