Ex-Combatants Return Home to Rwanda

After the 1994 Genocide in Rwanda, members of the army and militia fled to the neighboring DRC where many of them continued to fight and often spent decades struggling to survive. From 2002 to 2017, the World Bank supported the Government of Rwanda in its efforts to demobilize and reintegrate armed groups and downsize its own military force. To date, thousands of ex-combatants have been demobilized and offered a tailored package of services based on their profile, including gender and disability status. This is the first in a series of videos about former combatants in Rwanda.
