KICOX and the World Bank Group Host International Conference on Eco and Climate-Friendly Industrial Parks

Seoul, October 26, 2015The Korea Industrial Complex Corporation (KICOX) and the World Bank Group are hosting the 2015 Eco-Industrial Parks (EIP) International Conference from October 26-28, 2015 in Seoul, South Korea. The theme of the conference is “An Alternative for the Future of Industrial Development: EIP and Low Carbon, Green Industrial Complexes.”

The event will bring together government officials and high-level representatives from international organizations and corporations to share global expertise, with an aim to promote the development of Eco-Industrial Parks or Low Carbon Zones, which are vital to transitioning industrial zones towards green growth and attracting foreign direct investment. 

Klaus Tilmes, World Bank Group Director of the Trade & Competitiveness Global Practice will give the opening remarks.

“This conference will provide an opportunity to explore new technologies and to establish low carbon zones that promote energy efficiency and combat environmental degradation,” said Klaus Tilmes, World Bank Group Director of Trade & Competitiveness Global Practice. “The introduction of new technologies will not only help combat the effects of climate change but also promote business growth.”

The topics being discussed during the conference are captured in the World Bank Group publication Low-Carbon Zones: A Handbook for Practitioners. The publication provides an overview for aid practitioners, governments and the private sector of low-carbon zones and the systematic process required to develop and operate in such zones.
