WASHINGTON, July 25, 2012 – Pamela Cox, World Bank East Asia and Pacific Regional Vice President will visit Myanmar from July 30 – August 1 to open the Bank’s new country office.
While in Myanmar, she will meet with senior officials and development partners to discuss ways to support of reforms to improve the lives of all the people of Myanmar, especially the poor and vulnerable.
This is the first visit by World Bank senior management to the country since the new government of Myanmar was formed and the country began undertaking economic and political reforms.
Karin Finkelston, International Finance Corporation (IFC) Vice President for Asia Pacific, will also be in Myanmar. IFC is the Bank’s private sector arm.
