New World Bank Country Manager for Azerbaijan Assumes His Duties

The World Bank Country Office is pleased to inform that Mr. Gregory T. Jedrzejczak has completed his mission as the World Bank Country Manager in Azerbaijan on July 31, and Mr. Joseph M. Owen has commenced his mission as the World Bank Country Manager as of  August 1.

"Over the last four years I had a privilege to represent the World Bank during the unprecedented changes in Azerbaijani economy and the society. I am leaving Baku with the sense of the relations between the World Bank and Azerbaijan stronger than ever" said Mr. Jedrzejczak.

Mr. Owen brings to the position wealth of experience, the most recently as a country manager in Latin America.  "My task is to continue the successful strategy of cooperation between the World Bank and Azerbaijan, but also to respond to new challenges as described in a new Country Partnership Strategy 2011-2014. These challenges include more efficient implementation of the existing projects, extending our cooperation to new areas of regional development, governance and sustainable development, and more balanced focus on the analytical work" said Mr. Owen.
