World Bank Supports Improving College Education in Bangladesh

WASHINGTON, September 8, 2016 - The World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors today approved the following project:

Bangladesh today signed a $100 million financing agreement with the World Bank to improve the education and management in the National University-affiliated colleges so they can teach more market-relevant skills to create a competitive workforce for the country.

Bangladesh - Pro-Poor Slums Integration Project

IDA Credit: US$100 million equivalent

Project ID: P154577

Terms: Maturity = 38 years; Grace = 6 years

Project Description: To improve the education system of the government and non-government colleges affiliated with the National University, where around 1.6 million students are currently enrolled.
