IDA GRANT: US$5 million
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project is a core part of the Bank's overall response to the emergency situation caused by the passing of Tropical Storm Fay and Hurricanes Gustav, Hanna and Ike (FGHI) in August and September, 2008. The grant provides financing to ongoing government activities, as well as technical assistance for improving existing procedures. The grant will also serve as a natural complement to two other ongoing International Development Association (IDA)-supported operations in the education sector, focusing on access to basic education and teacher training.
