Seminar on "Democratizing Development in a transforming world" at the National Bank of Poland


The World Bank Country Office in Warsaw was pleased to host Caroline Anstey, the World Bank’s Managing Director, during her visit to Poland on 12-13 April, 2012.

Ms. Anstey met with Marek Belka, the Governor of the Central Bank, Jacek Dominik, Deputy Minister of Finance, and Beata Stellmach, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Ms. Anstey also met with a group of civil society organizations and delivered a lecture on Democratizing Development in a Transforming World during a seminar organized jointly by the World Bank and the National Bank of Poland.

“Countries like Poland have a special role to play in the global debates on economic development”, said Ms. Anstey. “Poland’s experience shows how sound policies and strong political leadership can deliver success. This experience – the ‘Polish know how’ – is an important ingredient for others to learn from and to be successful, and only Poland can provide it.”
