ECA Talk: Fall 2023 Europe and Central Asia Economic Update "Sluggish Growth, Rising Risks"

Reena Badiani-Magnusson is a Senior Economist at the World Bank. She has worked on social protection, human development and poverty issues over the past 9 years at the World Bank in several countries across Europe and Central Asia, East Asia and the Pacific and Africa. Reena holds a PhD from the Department of Economics at Yale University. She additionally holds a Masters in Environmental Economics from the MPSE in Toulouse University. 

David Knight is the Lead Country Economist and Program Leader for Equitable Growth, Finance and Institutions covering Central Asia, based in Tashkent. Prior to that David was a Lead Economist and Program Leader for the Russian Federation, and previously held positions with the World Bank in Turkey, Timor-Leste and Sydney, Australia. David has led research on a range of topics related to macroeconomics, poverty reduction, fiscal management and trade and has publications in a range of areas such as public financial management, aid effectiveness, balance of payments issues, and global value chains.

Richard Record is the World Bank’s Lead Country Economist for the Western Balkans. Based in Vienna, he coordinates the Bank’s engagement on equitable growth, finance and institutions across Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia. Richard previously worked across a number of countries in the East Asia and Pacific, Europe and Central Asia, and Africa regions, managing programs on macroeconomics, fiscal policy, trade and private sector development, including assignments based in Kuala Lumpur, Lilongwe, Hanoi and Vientiane.

Kori Udovički is founder and heads the Belgrade think-tank Center for Advanced Economic Studies (CEVES). She is also current member of the United Nations High-Level Advisory Board on Economic and Social Affairs. Previously she was Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government (2014-2016) in the Government of Serbia. In Serbia she also served as Minister of Energy and Mines (2002-2003), and as the first woman Governor of the National Bank of Serbia (2003-2004).
