>> WORLD BANK LIVE (DAY 1) WITH KEYNOTE SPEAKER ESTHER DUFLO

The World Bank Development Impact Evaluation Department (DIME) and the Office of the Senior Vice President of Development Economics are organizing a “Development Impact Week”, a five-day event to launch the flagship report “Driving Revolutionary Ideas into Practice” and share the latest evidence on the role of data and impact evaluation in measuring and increasing the impact of development finance and mainstreaming evidence in development operations.

The increased frequency and severity of financial and environmental risks, food crises, pandemics and conflicts call for an evolved approach to international development. Technological progress can help the development community address these global threats to peace and prosperity by leveraging real-time information and policy feedback.

This five-day event will showcase the latest results on how data, evidence and new technologies can dramatically increase the impact of development finance - notably in regard to infrastructure for climate change, economic inclusion, human development and better governance.

The week will feature a series of presentations and interactive discussions with high-level experts, government representatives, academics and development partners. Panelists will discuss the current state of these technologies and the promise they hold for informing policy decisions in real-time and secure greater levels of effectiveness. They will also highlight opportunities to intensify international cooperation and increase investments in data generation, impact evaluation and country capacities.
