The event was streamed in Bahasa-Indonesia, English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish.

The Coastal Fisheries Initiative - Challenge Fund aims to engage businesses and the financing community in support of more productive and sustainable coastal fisheries in Cabo Verde, Ecuador, Indonesia, and Peru.  The CFI-CF sponsored the Global Knowledge Competition (GKC) to encourage coalitions of fishing communities, business and finance communities, and policy makers to develop innovative solutions that address overfishing and inefficiencies in coastal fisheries. The competition sought applicants from Cabo Verde, Ecuador, Indonesia, and Peru who submitted thirty proposals.

One winner and one runner up were selected from each of the four CFI-CF competition countries. They propose diverse approaches, tailored to local conditions, such as sustainable product marketing, improved fishing equipment and practices, and supply chain initiatives to build the seafood industry and consumer support.

Join the conversation with the winners and runners up as well as fisheries experts as they discuss the solutions; challenges and opportunities to form coalitions; and means to implement the solutions.

The CFI-CF project is part of the Coastal Fisheries Initiative (CFI), a collaborative, global effort funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and led by FAO.
