Axel van Trotsenburg (@AxelVT_WB) is the World Bank Managing Director of Operations. In this role, which he assumed on October 1, 2019, Mr van Trotsenburg oversees the Bank’s operational program and ensures that the Bank’s delivery model continues to meet the needs of client countries. He also builds support and mobilizes financial resources across the international community for efforts to assist low and middle-income countries.
Carlos Felipe Jaramillo is the World Bank Vice President for the Latin America and the Caribbean Region, overseeing Bank relations with 31 countries and a portfolio of ongoing projects, technical assistance and grants of almost US$32 billion. Under his leadership, the Bank’s operations in the region focus on fueling growth, reducing poverty, supporting equality and protecting the environment.
Mrs. Garzón Villalba is a Doctor of Medicine and holds a PhD in Public Health with a concentration in Occupational Health and a Postdoctoral in Occupational Health Research and Occupational Epidemiology, both from the University of South Florida (USF). From 2018 to 2021 she has held the positions of Deputy Medical Technical Director and Deputy Director of Teaching and Research at General Hospital South Quito.
Mrs. Gorday de Villalobos has been general director of the Instituto Panameño de Habilitación Especial (IPHE), founder and director of the Ann Sullivan Center, secretary general of the Secretaría Nacional de Discapacidad (SENADIS), national director of special education of the IPHE and director of the Special Vocational School. Gorday de Villalobos graduated as a teacher of special education with a specialization in early childhood stimulation, vision, hearing, and language from the Higher Institute of Specialization. She has a Bachelor’s of Applied Arts from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Panamá.
Mr. Singh is a Guyanese politician. He serves as Minister of Finance as of 5 November 2020. He also served in this role from September 2006 to May 2015. Prior to his first appointment as minister, Singh was the Director of Budget in the Ministry of Finance and Deputy Auditor General in the Office of the Auditor General, as well as a chairman in the Governing Board of the Guyana Revenue Authority and the University of Guyana. Between tenures as minister, he worked for the International Monetary Fund. As acting Minister, Singh also represented Guyana on the Boards of Governors of the IMF, the World Bank Group, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the Caribbean Development Bank. Singh attended Queen's College and has a PhD in Accounting and Finance from Lancaster University.
Mr. Gómez is Deputy Director at the National Planning Department in Colombia. Previously he worked at the World Bank as a Senior Economist in the Finance, Competitiveness, and Innovation (FCI) LAC team. Before joining the WBG, he was Head of Competitiveness Research at the World Economic Forum (WEF), where he led the production of the Global Competitiveness Report. He designed and led country engagement strategies including competitiveness labs and workshops in Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, El Salvador, and Guatemala. He holds a Ph.D. in Business Economics with specializations in international trade and industrial organization from the University of Chicago.
