Taking the opportunity of TICAD Co-organizers meeting as well as Joint Monitoring Committee of the TICAD which took place in Tokyo, the World Bank, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and United Nations Office of Special Adviser for Africa (UNOSSA) had a meeting with Citizen’s Network for TICAD (Afri-Can). Afri-Can is an umbrella network which consists of not only Japanese CSOs but also African civil society, has been working hard to make TICAD truly meaningful for the citizens of Africa through networking with civil society in Africa, participation in TICAD process including the TICAD VI Preparatory Ministerial Meeting, and advocacy for the TICAD VI outcome documents. Afri-Can also participate in a session which the Government of Japan organized and there was an African CSO representative participated in the meeting.

TICAD Co-organizers and CSOs discussed the preparation for side events during the TICAD Ministerial Meeting in Maputo, and how international community can achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Meetings also offered an opportunity for civil society organizations to share their views to further collaborate with international organizations.
