Doing Business 2017: The Way Forward for Malaysia
November 14-18, 2016Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

In coordination with the Special Task Force to Facilitate Business (PEMUDAH), the World Bank Group Global Knowledge and Research Hub in Malaysia will host a Doing Business workshop for stakeholders from government and private sector. The sessions will provide guests the opportunity to learn the methodology of all Doing Business indicators and best practices in regulatory business environment around the world for small and medium companies.

Building on the reform momentum from past years, this workshop will highlight areas of improvement for Malaysia along with the best practices to narrow the distance to frontier. In the last year, Malaysia continued its efforts to improve the business climate for local entrepreneurs, enacting two business reforms during the past year, according to the Doing Business 2017 report. The report, Doing Business 2017: Equal Opportunity for All, finds that Malaysia is one of 17 economies that implemented reforms in the East Asia and the Pacific region in the past year. The two reforms implemented in the past year included the strengthening of credit reporting by providing consumer credit scores. Malaysia also made it easier to pay taxes by introducing an online system for filing and paying goods and services tax.
