Conference: Active Aging for Longer and Better Working Lives
October 1, 2015Riga, Latvia

Organized jointly by the Ministry of Welfare of the Republic of Latvia and the World Bank, the conference will discuss active ageing challenges in Europe with regard to employment, and in particular, look at how countries can make full use of the existing labor force potential.

Given that Europe is experiencing rapid population ageing, providing support for longer and better working lives is important not only for the welfare of the older population, but also for future growth prospects of countries.

With this in sight, the objective of the conference is to examine active ageing challenges in Europe, with regard to employment, and to look at how countries can adapt to the changing labor market and make full use of the existing labor force potential. The focus will be on the public policy environment, but the role of the private sector will also be examined.

The conference is organised as part of the project “Latvia: Developing a Comprehensive Active Ageing Strategy for Longer and Better Working Lives,” with funding from the European Union.
