In the past years, there has been a strong movement in many parts of the world calling for more transparency, accountability, and participation in governance. The World Bank itself is undergoing a transformation. Like any other public institution, the Bank is accountable to the people of its 188 member countries. The World Bank has embarked on a fundamental shift in its approach to sharing information and to opening up the Bank to new forms of engaging with citizens. As part of this approach, the World Bank has launched new initiative called Open Development. Open Development is a whole package of data, researches, information, and analytical tools that you can find on the internet. They are free, no password required. Open Development is also about partnerships and collaboration between the Bank, development partners, and citizens to find solutions to development challenges.
The workshop will offer training using PC to introduce how to use online resources of the Bank. We hope that this workshop would be useful for those who perform functions directly related to research, knowledge management, or development work. We encourage participants to bring a laptop computer.
