Comprehensive Solutions for the Prevention of Crime and Violence
June 26-29, 2013Cali, Colombia

Strengthening Local Institutions for Citizen Security and Coexistence in America

Reducing crime and violence in the neighborhoods of Latin America is a priority in the region. But if the local and municipal governments, closer to the communities, play an important role in reaching those goals, they have a limited technical capacity to fight violence.

This event’s objective, that will take place in Cali from June 26th to June 29th, is to bring together local authorities and experts in the topic so as to explore practices and lessons learnt about the prevention of crime and violence, and share them in a broad dialogue with everyone.

It will also mark the launch of the Solutions to Violence Network (Resol-V) that will boost knowledge centers in violence prevention in the whole American continent, and will link them with authorities and planning officials.

The President of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos, Hasan Tuluy, the Vicepresident for Latin America and the Caribbean of the World Bank, and Rodrigo Guerrero, Cali’s mayor, will be present, as well as many other high level speakers and academics.
