World Bank Group Geneva Office

The World Bank Group Office in Geneva, located in the Headquarters of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), spearheads the institution’s engagements and partnerships with the United Nations, and various international organizations, and local private and public organizations. The team is part of the Vice Presidency for External and Corporate Relations (ECR). As a reflection of the importance of Geneva-based partners, the office houses colleagues from various Global Practices, namely Health Nutrition and Population (HNP) (WHO/GAVI/Global Fund); Macroeconomics, Trade and Investment (MTI) (WTO); and Urban, Disaster Risk Management, Resilience and Land (WMO, UNDRR).

The role of the office has evolved over the years, at the center is its traditional liaison/representation role. It has assumed an active role on certain key corporate priorities where necessary technical expertise emanates from the Geneva office itself, such as the humanitarian-development nexus and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the SDGs. The Geneva office also deepens the connection between WBG units and local partners e.g., in the areas of unique fragile contexts (ICRC), refugees and host communities (UNHCR), migration (IOM), labor and social protection (ILO), science and technology (ITU), and impact investing (Sustainable Finance Switzerland).
