Optional Dependent Group Life Insurance for CO Open, Term, Regular Staff, and Executive Directors

Eligibility: Country office (CO) staff appointments (regular, open, term, executive director (ED) appointments).

CO staff—regular, open, term, ED, ED alternates, ED advisors, and ED senior advisor appointments—may purchase Optional Dependent Group Life Insurance to cover a spouse/registered domestic partner (DP) and eligible dependent children (children over 4 years old and under age 25). Premium rates can be found on the Life Insurance Premiums for CO page. The coverage is:

  
Coverage for spouse/DPCoverage for each child
25% of net annual salary5% of net annual salary

Enrollment in Optional Dependent Group Life Insurance must be elected by the staff member. Such election may be made without the provision of evidence of good health only if the election is made within 60 days of the:

  • entry on duty (if the staff member joins with a dependent spouse/DP and/or dependent children).

  • acquisition of a new dependent (marriage / establishment of domestic partnership / if no dependent children, or birth/adoption of first child if not married and without a DP).

If you wish to establish or increase your Optional Dependent Group Life Insurance coverage in any other circumstance, you must go through Late Enrollment and provide the insurer with satisfactory evidence of good health. The World Bank Group cannot and will not intervene on late enrollment decisions. 
 
You may reduce or cancel your Optional Dependent Group Life coverage at any time by using Employee Sel-Service.

Note:

In case of conflict between this guidance and the applicable staff rule, the staff rule prevails.
