Dr. Stefan G. Koeberle is the Director for Strategy and Operations in the Integrity Vice Presidency (INT), which contributes to the World Bank’s core mission of promoting development and reducing poverty by ensuring that funds are used for their intended purposes. In addition to supporting the Vice President in the management of INT, Dr. Koeberle is responsible for the support INT provides the operational units of the World Bank Group to help mitigate fraud and corruption risks through sharing investigative findings, advising on prevention measures and outreach.
Since joining the World Bank as a Young Professional in 1993, Dr. Koeberle has worked in a variety of countries and regions, including postings in Thailand and Indonesia. His most recent positions at the World Bank included the following: Director Strategy, Results and Risk in Operations Policy and Country Services of the World Bank; Country Director for Indonesia; Director, Strategy and Operations in the Latin America and Caribbean Region and Director, Operations Services in Latin America. Prior to joining the World Bank, Dr. Koeberle worked as a post-graduate fellow at the German Development Institute in Berlin. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from Cambridge University. He has published a number of articles and several books on competitiveness, conditionality and budget support.
