Sheirin Iravantchi


Sheirin Iravantchi is a Senior Financial Sector Specialist in the Financial Inclusion and Consumer Protection (FICP) team of the Finance, Competitiveness and Innovation Global Practice at the World Bank. Sheirin works globally with countries and development partners wishing to foster inclusive financial sectors, especially through national policy and reform efforts, as well as by encouraging emergent innovation. Previously, she managed the Financial Inclusion Support Framework, a WBG global initiative supporting countries to accelerate financial inclusion.

Sheirin has worked on financial inclusion, micro and SME finance, investment, and technology in her prior engagements, including at the International Finance Corporation, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the French Ministry for the Economy and Finance. She is fluent in Spanish, French, and Portuguese, and conversant in Italian and Farsi. Sheirin has a master’s degree in International Finance from Georgetown University, and a bachelor’s degree in Economics with a dual degree in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley.
