Ria Ghosh


Ria Ghosh is a Portfolio Manager for fixed income investments at the World Bank (IBRD and IDA). She manages the multi-currency liquidity portfolio for IBRD and IDA treasury (~USD 120 billion). She manages funds raised for lending activities of IBRD and IDA, by investing the funds in high-grade assets and money market instruments including bonds, asset swaps, deposits, CDs, CPs, bills, repos etc. She also provides input into the overall asset allocation and manages the daily liquidity needs for the bank.

Before this she worked in the Asset Liability and Management team, responsible for executing all World Bank balance sheet (IBRD and IDA) hedging transactions using derivatives in interest rate, currency and commodities. She was also involved in discussions with all World Bank member countries for their risk management needs with a special focus on local currency. Her work also involved framing bank policies and she also worked on LIBOR transition.

Ria has almost a decade of experience in global markets, straddling both public and private sectors. Before joining the World bank, she worked with Nomura Asia (Fixed Income sales and structuring) specializing in hedging and investment needs of Asian Clients. She also worked with Deutsche Bank London (Macro and ALM structuring) covering European Pension Funds and Insurance Companies.

Ria holds an MBA in Finance from Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore and B.Tech. in Electronics from National Institute of Technology, Warangal. She is also a certified Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Financial Risk Manager (FRM).
