Nikolas Myint

Acting Global Director, Social Inclusion

Nikolas Myint is Acting Global Director for Social Inclusion at the World Bank. In that capacity he provides strategic direction and leadership for the Social Inclusion Global Practice, which is home to 380 staff and a $7bn financing portfolio and plays an integral role in the implementation of the World Bank’s Environmental and Social Framework.

In his day job, Nik is Practice Manager for Global Programs at the Social Inclusion Global Practice. In this role, he manages a team that advances social inclusion across the World Bank through increased evidence, improved operations and better policies. From 2020 to 2023, Nik served as Global Lead for Social Cohesion and Resilience, leading global research and working with project teams in settings of fragility, conflict and violence (FCV).

Nik joined the Bank in 2009 as part of the 2011 World Development Report on Conflict, Security and Development. From 2012 to 2017, Nikolas was based in Myanmar, where he was part of the Bank’s re-engagement in the country at a time of democratic reforms and helped design and subsequently scale up the Myanmar National Community-Driven Development (CDD) Project, a $550 million effort to enhance access to services for poor communities. From 2017 to 2019, Nik served as coordinator of the CDD community of practice, leading the workstream on the use of CDD approaches in FCV environments. Before joining the Bank, Nik spent seven years working for the U.N. on humanitarian response and political mediation.

Nik holds a B.A. in Political Science from Middlebury College and an M.A. in International Relations from the University of Chicago.
