One year has passed since Russia invaded Ukraine, causing widespread devastation and suffering in the country and rattling the world economy. Without waiting for an end to the war, Ukraine needs to start preparing for reconstruction—an enormous task that will take time and require much international support. The World Bank continues to stand with the Ukrainian people, providing assistance to make emergency repairs and ensuring that critical government services—like pensions, social assistance, and wages for healthcare workers—can continue.
