Making Programs Work Better for Women: Empowering minority women in India

The Nai Manzil ("New Horizons") program run by India’s Ministry of Minority Affairs – and supported by The World Bank with a loan of $50 million – provides school dropouts from minority communities in 26 states and 3 union territories with six months of education and three months of skills training, followed by a further six months of support to help them establish themselves. Amongst the more than 98,000 disadvantaged minority youth who have benefitted from the program, this short video captures its life-changing impact on 3 beneficiaries who reported better earnings, improved lifestyles, increased self-confidence, and enhanced capacity to face challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic.
