Roads Create New Opportunities for Farmers in Malawi During COVID-19 Pandemic

The Agriculture Sector Wide Approach Support Project II (ASWAp SPII) supports communities in Malawi to improve agricultural productivity and market access. Investments have improved more than 1,000 km of roads and connected 74 important trade centers. The road construction projects have employed over 14,000 local workers during the Covid-19 pandemic. ASWAp SPII is carried out by the Government of Malawi and financed by five donors: European Union, Ireland, Flanders, Norway, and USAID. The multi-donor trust fund is managed by the World Bank.
