Toward a Resilient Recovery from COVID-19 in Fragile Settings

Extreme poverty was already increasing in fragility, conflict and violence-affected settings before the COVID-19 pandemic hit, bucking the global trend toward poverty alleviation. To the existing risks already affecting these settings --by violent conflict, climate change, rising inequality, demographic change, among others-- the COVID-19 pandemic adds even greater stress and threatens to reverse decades of advancements in poverty reduction and development. This video showcases some early interventions by the World Bank with some of its partners to tackle COVID-19 in Yemen, Central African Republic, and Papua New Guinea.
