The global water crisis is complex because it not only manifests itself through various hazards like droughts, floods and pollution, but also requires proven and comprehensive solutions. The World Bank's Global Water Security & Sanitation Partnership (GWSP) is unique, however, because it leverages research and knowledge to collaborate with entities like the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) on the development, financing and implementation of solutions to the water crisis.
