In May 2014, unprecedented rainfall in BiH led to the worst flooding in the country’s documented history, affecting over 1 million people (25% of the population) and causing estimated damages of nearly 15% of the country’s GDP. The World Bank-financed Floods Emergency Recovery Project provided emergency assistance to 800,000 citizens and helped restore the infrastructure essential for public services and economic recovery in flood-affected areas.
