Solomon Islands – ‘Powerless’: A business owner’s story

The Solomon Islands, in the heart of the Pacific, relies on expensive imported fuel for nearly 100% of its electricity. It has some of the highest energy costs in the world and one of the lowest rates of connection in the world, with just 9% of Solomon Islanders connected to the electricity grid. This is the story of Toata Molea, the owner of Didao Service Station in the capital, Honiara. Toata shares his insights into running a small business under the Solomons’ high energy costs.
