Readout from World Bank Group President David Malpass’s Meeting with Minister of Finance Mikael Damberg and Minister for International Development Cooperation Matilda Ernkrans of Sweden

WASHINGTON, April 21 – Today, World Bank Group President David Malpass met with Minister of Finance Mikael Damberg and Minister for International Development Cooperation Matilda Ernkrans of Sweden.

President Malpass thanked Ministers Damberg and Ernkrans for Sweden’s support for the World Bank Group’s (WBG) Financing of Recovery for Economic Emergency in Ukraine (FREE Ukraine) support package, and was glad to highlight progress made under the WBG’s $3 billion in support for the people of Ukraine as they work to address the impacts of the Russian invasion.

President Malpass briefed Ministers Damberg and Ernkrans on WBG climate efforts, especially the WBG’s Climate Change Action Plan (CCAP) and Country Climate and Development Reports (CCDRs). President Malpass highlighted the WBG’s efforts on mitigation, adaptation and channeling private capital into effective interventions.

President Malpass spoke with Ministers Damberg and Ernkrans on the impact of the food crisis on the poor and vulnerable and discussed the importance of boosting production, keeping trade flows open and providing targeted support.
