The World Bank issued the following statement after the meeting between World Bank Group President David Malpass and Prime Minister Saad El-Din Rafik Al-Hariri of Lebanon today. The below statement is attributable to President Malpass:
“I was glad to meet today with Prime Minister Saad Hariri, and was encouraged to hear his focus on fiscal stability and electricity sector reforms in Lebanon. We welcome the Lebanese government’s trust and confidence in the World Bank Group as a partner for Lebanon.”
“The World Bank Group looks forward to supporting Lebanese growth and economic stability. Our programs in Lebanon aim to strengthen state institutions, address existing vulnerabilities, and bolster efforts on longer-term development challenges, all while mitigating the impacts of the Syria crisis on Lebanon.”
