World Bank Vice President for Eastern and Southern Africa, Victoria Kwakwa, to Visit Mozambique

MAPUTO, March 4, 2023 - World Bank Vice President for Eastern and Southern Africa, Victoria Kwakwa, will visit Mozambique from March 6 to 11, 2023. This will be her first visit to Mozambique since becoming the institution’s vice president for the region. She will focus on supporting the government's reform agenda, improving Mozambique's resilience, and addressing its fragility drivers.

Her visit represents a strengthening of ties with Mozambique, days after the WBG’s Board of Executive Directors discussed and endorsed a new WBG’s 2023-27 Country Partnership Framework (CPF), with Mozambique.

She will meet with the President of the Republic of Mozambique, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Economy and Finance, the Governor of the Central Bank, and several other high-ranking government and state officials. She will also engage with beneficiaries and frontline implementers of World Bank-financed projects, including digital entrepreneurs, members of civil society, think tanks, and thought leaders. Discussions with stakeholders will focus on the country’s economy and growth and several thematic areas where the World Bank is involved.
