Clarification: World Bank Statement on the Indus Waters Treaty Meetings

WASHINGTON, August 2, 2017 – In response to erroneous reporting from some media outlets on the outcomes of the Indus Waters Treaty meetings hosted by the World Bank in Washington, DC this week, the World Bank would like to clarify that the discussions between India and Pakistan about the Kishenganga and Ratle hydroelectric power plants are ongoing. The meetings earlier this week were held in the spirit of goodwill and cooperation. The parties have agreed to continue discussions and reconvene in September in Washington, D.C.
