World Bank Prepares Public Issue of 3 Billion Belgian Francs Bonds

The World Bank and Societe Generale de Banque S.A., today signed in Washington, D.C. an underwriting agreement for a public issue on 11.50% Belgian franc bonds, due October 2, 1990.

The issue, totaling BFr 3 billion (about US$ 50.5 million equivalent) will be offered at par for public subscription in Belgium from September 24 through October 1.

A syndicate headed by Societe Generale de Banque has fully underwritten the bonds. Other members of the underwriting syndicate include: Banque Bruxelles Lambert, Kredietbank, Banque Paribas Belgique, Credit Communnal de Belgique, and Banque Degroof.

This issue marks the fourth public offering of bonds by the World Bank in the Belgian capital market.
