The World Bank has placed a special issue of Italian lira notes for a principal amount of twenty billion lire (Lit. 20,000,000,000) with Ufficio Italiano dei Cambi, an Italian official institution. The notes are dated August 1, 1973 and will mature from 1978 through 1988; they carry interest at the rate of 7½% per annum payable semi-annually. The proceeds of the issue will be used in the general operations of the World Bank.
