PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The main objective of this project is to fund integrated water resources development activities focusing at the local level to help generate income to reduce poverty among rural communities along the river basin. Part of the funding will be devoted to fighting water-related diseases, notably malaria and schistosomiasis, which are two of the most severe health problems affecting those living in the river basin.
