A delegation of more than 35 MPs from the NATO PA’s Political and Economic Committees visited Washington DC on April 28-30 and devoted half a day to meetings with the World Bank and the IMF. The delegation amongst others met with World Bank President Kim, to discuss WBG efforts in Fragile and Conflict affected States.

The NATO PA delegation, consisting of senior members of parliament from France, UK, Turkey, Italy, Estonia, Romania, Czech Republic, Denmark, Spain, Croatia, Latvia and Luxembourg, was led by Hugh Bayley, UK MP and NATO PA President, and the chairs of the respective NATO PA sub-committees on Trans Atlantic Relations.

Prior to their session with the World Bank President, the delegation was given a briefing by OPCS (Operations Policy and Country Services), focusing on the World Bank's changed approach to Fragile and Conflict affected States, drivers of fragility, how to best address these, the need for partnerships to address these, and how to deal with the security-development nexus.

During the following Q&A session, the discussion also touched upon some concrete country examples.
