17 Members of Parliament (MPs) from three continents: Europe, North America and Africa visited Tanzania. The aim of the 4 day parliamentary field visit jointly organized by the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and IMF (PN), the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank was for Parliamentarians to better understand the work of the World Bank Group and the IMF at the country level.

Participants visited WBG projects and met with the Central Bank, the donor community, and main civil society organizations in Tanzania and the private sector. It was also a unique opportunity for dialogue with local MPs and local authorities. At the end of the visit UK MP, James Duddridge noted how his impression of the World Bank and IMF improved significantly from what he learned during the visit, a sentiment widely shared among delegates.

The report prepared by the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and the IMF will soon be available on their website atwww.pnowb.org.
