The Public Private Infrastructure Advisory Facility, in collaboration with the International Finance Corporation and Global Infrastructure Facility is hosting a three-day workshop to train infrastructure PPP planners and practitioners from emerging markets and developing countries (EMDEs) on the use of the newly launched Sector Climate Toolkits for Infrastructure PPPs (CTIP3). During this workshop, participants will learn how to embed climate mitigation and adaptation into PPP projects in several sectors: Energy (Hydropower + Solar/Wind), Water and Sanitation, Transport and Digital/ICT.
During this workshop, which will run from May 20-22, 2024, participants will learn about the application of the CTIP3 suite in the upstream and midstream stages of the PPP lifecycle. By the end of the three days, participants will be able to use the toolkits to assess the enabling environment and institutional capacity in their respective countries, as well as how to integrate climate considerations into infrastructure PPP projects. The final day will also include a special session on strategies to enable access to climate finance for infrastructure PPPs.
This training is a follow-up to a May 2022 workshop held for EMDE clients on the Umbrella toolkit designed for multisector use, where 50 EMDE PPP practitioners from 13 countries representing diverse PPP stakeholder institutions built knowledge on how to screen for climate risks, embed climate mitigation and adaptation considerations, and facilitate increased private sector investment to develop low carbon and resilient infrastructure in their respective countries. This knowledge has contributed to the development of 20 approved pilots of the toolkits so far, seven of which have been completed to date.
The 2024 workshop will run over 3 days for 3 hours each day and is being offered in several time zones to accommodate participants in different locations.
