The World Bank, in partnership with PlanMalaysia, one of Malaysia's leading agencies implementing sustainability initiatives, is hosting a three-day Symposium to better understand the World Bank's Environmental and Social Framework (ESF) as an international benchmark to improve Malaysia's sustainability agenda. This event includes training in applying the World Bank's ESF, facilitated discussions on how the governments of Chile and Georgia are using national environmental and social regulatory frameworks to promote competitiveness and sustainable development. The event will include reflections from the Securities Commission of Malaysia about environmental and social taxonomies. And the International Finance Corporation (IFC) will share its latest work on strengthening Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and sustainable finance in East Asia and the Pacific. This event finalizes with a site visit to Gamuda Cove, a mixed development project that includes housing, commercial, and public amenities in an area with relevant environmental and social risks addressed by PlanMalaysia, local development authorities, and key stakeholders.
