Climate change is already causing economic damage in the region and threatens to increase poverty and internal migration. Increases in the frequency and intensity of weather events are affecting infrastructure and leaving most vulnerable populations without shelter. The region has a unique opportunity to lead a climate resilient development by implementing concrete and inclusive adaptation measures, while investing in low-carbon solutions to attract new jobs and green growth. Addressing economic development and climate change together is a priority for the region to build a better future for its people and its resources.
