June 15, 2022

Tune in on June 15 at 10:00 AM EST to watch the livestream above.

Migration has been a source of social and economic well-being in the Mediterranean region for thousands of years and is an important driver for development. Join this launch event for a new World Bank publication, Building Resilient Migration Systems in the Mediterranean Region: Lessons from COVID-19. The report is co-sponsored by the Chief Economist offices of Europe and Central Asia, and the Middle East and North Africa regions at the World Bank, in partnership with the Center for Mediterranean Integration.

The COVID-19 pandemic had an impact on migration in the Mediterranean region and the report suggests policy actions that could help to reform the migration system to better withstand future shocks. Hear more from the report author and join an engaging panel of experts and policymakers who will discuss how a more efficient migration system would help to address labor shortages, sustain household incomes and enhance the wellbeing of both migrant and native populations for generations to come.
