The World Bank Group Controller and Deloitte Annual Finance and Accounting Conference

This one-day workshop, which runs from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, brings together leading experts from Deloitte for an in-depth discussion on current accounting and finance issues facing the Banking industry. NOTE: This event is currently only open to World Bank Group, IMF, IADB, and other Multilateral Development Bank (MDB) staff.

  • Jointly sponsored by the WBG Controller and Deloitte, this one-day conference brings together leading experts from Deloitte for an in-depth discussion on current accounting and finance issues facing the Banking industry. The conference will also feature interactive Q&A sessions during the day with the speakers.

    There will be in-depth discussions on new US GAAP, IFRS accounting pronouncements and developments in corporate reporting. Other topics include enhancing the working relationship in the financial reporting supply chain and cyber security.

    As in previous years, the conference attracts finance and accounting professionals across the World Bank Group, as well as the International Monetary Fund and the Inter-American Development Bank. This conference qualifies for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits.

    Meeting materials will be available one week before the start of the event under the appropriate tab above.

    Daniel Bachman

    Senior Manager, Economic Insights

    Daniel Bachman, Ph.D., is an experienced U.S. and international macroeconomic forecaster and modeler. He has led and participated in forecasting teams in both the public and private sectors and led the development of sophisticated modeling tools for those forecasting teams. Dr. Bachman has substantial experience in teaching and training in both classroom and in corporate and government settings around the world. He is experienced in communicating complex economic ideas to broad audiences through written reports, op-eds, web articles, speeches, economic outlook presentations, and college courses. Dr. Bachman has advised presidential appointees and corporate planners for Fortune 500 companies on economic ideas and events, and he has represented the U.S. government at international economic organizations.

    Bill Eggers

    Executive Director, Center for Government Insights

    Bill is the executive director of Deloitte’s Center for Government Insights where he is responsible for the firm’s public sector thought leadership. His new book is Delivering on Digital: The Innovators and Technologies that are Transforming Government (Deloitte Insights, 2016). His eight other books include The Solution Revolution: How Government, Business, and Social Enterprises are Teaming up to Solve Society’s Biggest Problems (Harvard Business Review Press 2013). The book, which The Wall Street Journal calls “pulsating with new ideas about civic and business and philanthropic engagement,” was named to ten best books of the year lists. His other books include The Washington Post best seller If We Can Put a Man on the Moon: Getting Big Things Done in Government (Harvard Business Press, 2009), Governing by Network (Brookings, 2004), and The Public Innovator’s Playbook (Deloitte Research 2009). He coined the term Government 2.0 in a book by the same name. His commentary has appeared in dozens of major media outlets including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and the Chicago Tribune.

    Kristen Sullivan

    Sustainability and KPI Services Leader

    Kristen is an Audit & Assurance partner serving as the Sustainability and KPI services leader in Deloitte & Touche LLP. Kristen also serves as the Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited (DTTL) Americas Region Sustainability Services leader and leads Deloitte’s Supply Chain Social Compliance services. She brings specialized insights to these regulatory and compliance reporting requirements and the implications of environmental and social issues to corporate brand and reputation. Kristen also serves on a number of task forces and advisory councils of leading sustainability standard setting and reporting initiatives.

    Managing Director, Center for Financial Services

    Jim is the managing director of the Deloitte Center for Financial Services, where he is responsible for defining the marketplace positioning and development of the Center’s eminence and key activities. Jim is frequently a keynote speaker at major industry and client conferences. Prior to joining Deloitte, Jim served in several research and consulting leadership roles at TowerGroup.

    Jonathan Prejean

    Managing Director, Accounting & Reporting Transformation

    Jonathan, a managing director for Deloitte & Touche LLP, provides advisory, accounting consultation, and audit support services for clients’ capital markets transacting activities and related accounting, risk management, and process/control issues. He has deep technical experience in accounting for complex equity and debt transactions, derivatives, loans, securitization, mortgage servicing rights, structured finance, and consolidation. He follows standard setting activities related to FASB’s financial instruments projects and consolidation.

    Bob Uhl

    Audit & Assurance Partner, National Office

    A National Office Audit Partner with more than 25 years of experience, Bob leads the Accounting Standards and Communications group and is also the US leader on the Global IFRS Leadership Team. Bob has developed a deep knowledge of US and international accounting standards, which he uses in advising clients, standard setters and regulators. Bob is a member of FASB’s Emerging Issues Task Force and was previously a Professional Accounting Fellow in the Office of the Chief Accountant of the SEC.

    Chris Rogers

    Partner, Assurance and Accounting Advisory Services

    Chris is an Audit & Assurance partner in Deloitte & Touche LLP’s Financial Services industry practice. He currently serves as the lead technical partner on a large financial services client and is responsible for all technical accounting and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reporting matters. Chris is also a national clearing partner in the Accounting Services group of Deloitte’s national office. He consults with audit engagement teams and clients on complex accounting and financial reporting matters related to the US Generally Accepted Accounting Principals and International Financial Reporting Standards including financial instruments, structured transactions, consolidation, and business combinations. Finally, Chris is also on the national leadership team for Assurance and Accounting Advisory Services and is responsible for strategy and overseeing the various service offerings. Previously, He was a Professional Accounting Fellow in the Office of the Chief Accountant at the US SEC. While at the Commission, Chris participated in interagency rulemaking activities related to the implementation of the Dodd-Frank Act including money market form and risk retention.

    Patrick Givens

    Managing Director, Government Relations

    Patrick serves as a managing director of government relations for Deloitte LLP. In this capacity, he advises the firm’s leadership on emerging political and regulatory trends impacting the partnership. Drawing on his experience and deep network in Washington, D.C., he develops and executes legislative strategies in state capitals, Washington and globally in order to advance the firm’s business interests. Prior to joining Deloitte in 2008, Patrick worked on Capitol Hill for two Members of Congress. He helped develop and promote policies in the U.S. House of Representatives ranging from affordable homeowners insurance legislation to funding for Everglades restoration. Patrick successfully shepherded legislation through Congress and onto the President’s desk that protected small businesses conducting certain types of credit card transactions from unfair lawsuits. Patrick graduated from the University of Florida in 2003 with a B.A. in political science, and obtained a M.A. in political management from the George Washington University in 2005.

    Marc Mancher

    Principal, Federal Strategy & Operations

    Marc is a principal in Deloitte Consulting and leads its Federal Analytics Service Business, including Mission Analytics, Robotics, Cognitive, and Business Technology Platforms. Marc was an early pioneer in Robotics Process Automation and the founder of Deloitte Process Robotics. Marc’s prior leadership roles include Deloitte’s Federal shared services, transformation, and call center business, as well as Deloitte’s commercial Insourcing and Outsourcing Advisory businesses. For the past 20 years, Marc has advised, built, run, and operated IT, HR, and Finance centers on and off-shore. Marc’s clients have included IBM, Google, T-Mobile, Morgan Stanley, Sprint, Anthem, USAA, the US Department of Defense, the US Department of Commerce, and the US Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. Marc continues to serve in the US Navy Reserve with prior duty on the ground in Afghanistan. It is through this lens that he supports Deloitte’s Veterans as a prominent leader in the Veteran community.

This conference qualifies for Continuing Professional Education credits. Meeting materials will be available one week before the start of the event. Breakfast, lunch and refreshments will be provided.
