Jan was the embodiment of the ideal World Bank professional. He was a brilliant and thoughtful economist with a keen intellect and an endless capacity to shape new ideas. Resolute in the idea that we can end poverty on the face of the earth, Jan devoted his life to building the tools to do so. Through this remembrance, we are paying tribute to our colleague and friend.
